September 3rd Meeting

FBI Special Agent Mitchell Kanefsky, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal and Administrative Programs in the Richmond Division, will be the special guest speaker at the September 3rd meeting of the Brandermill Region (formerly “Retired”) Men’s Club in the Brandermill Church. Among his prior assignments was was that of Unit Chiefof the Security Division, which was born as a result of the Hanssen case. SA Kanefsky will discuss Hanssen’s career, his defection, how he was handled by his Soviet, later Russian, counterparts over a period of more than 20 years, how his betrayal was found out, and his apprehension as he approached his drop site in Vienna, Virginia, in February, 2001.
