Our June 3, 2021 Zoom meeting was presented by our former president, Commander Fred Carter USN. He presented “Sailor’s Sea Stories” about his experiences over his illustrious career in the U.S Navy that includes his first tour of duty aboard the Zellars to his tour as commanding officer of the nuclear attack submarine USS Haddo. (more...)

Katie Hood is the Development Director for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Richmond Chapter. Prior to joining the Greater Richmond Chapter, Katie worked as the Vice President of Development for the Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter for 7 years. Katie grew up in Southside Virginia and attended Old Dominion University. (more...)

Our November speaker was Lt. Col. Retired Air Force Pilot Rick Rohas. Rick was born and raised in a small town in southern Delaware on the Nanticoke River. When he was about five years old he remembers seeing a biplane above his house and knew he wanted to be a pilot someday.Eventually while attending Virginia Tech and working for DuPont he was able to pay for flying lessons at a local grass strip. This led to being inducted into Air force active duty service in January 1973. After training with three different types of jets, Rick was assigned to fly the C-130 Hercules in and out of Clark Air Base in the Philippines from 1974 to 1978. His most exciting missions were hauling Vietnamese refugees from Saigon to Clark Air Force Base. rick also had many other missions in southeast Asia, including Korea’s DMZ to keep North Korea in check. (more...)

Ron McNeil was a Marine Corps officer for 20 years, serving as an artillery officer, an infantry officer, and lawyer for 14 years in the field of criminal law. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he became a federal drug prosecutor with the Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Section, Criminal Division, U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. For the first ten years there, he focused on prosecuting leaders of domestic drug trafficking organizations. For the last ten years, he focused on prosecuting leaders of international drug trafficking organizations. (more...)

The guest speaker for our November 1,2018 meeting was James Howard, Capt. U.S. Army, retired. James presented an update on the non-profit organization he founded, VAU, Veterans and Athletes United. He also highlighted the recently completed VAU Fallen Heroes Memorial, a travelling memorial that honors 6940+ heroes who have fallen in the War on Terror. (more...)
