The guest speaker for our Oct. 4, 2018 meeting as William W. Campbell, MD, MSHA, COL, MC, USA (Ret). Bill, a member of the BRMC, spoke on: Peripheral Nerve Injuries in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.


Dr. William W. CampbellWilliam W Campbell, MD, MSHA, COL, MC, USA (Ret) attended Emory University and the Medical College of Georgia, then received his Neurology training at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. After several years on active duty he joined the faculty at the Medical College of Virginia and was on the staff at the McGuire Veterans Administration Hospital. During these years, he also served in the Army Reserve, including a tour as Commander of the 4215th USAR Hospital, and spent several years in the Virginia Army National Guard. After taking early retirement from the Veterans Administration, he returned to Active Duty at spent 14 years at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, DC, serving as Chief of Clinical Neurophysiology, and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, serving as Chair of the Department of Neurology, retiring in 2011. He has received many awards, including the Legion of Merit. In 2011, he was named Physician of the Year by the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is the author of over 100 scientific papers and five books. He is now semi-retired in part-time private practice with Neurological Associates in Richmond, Va.
