Our guest speaker for our March 1, 2018 meeting was historian and author Mary Miley Theobald. Mary, author of the wonderful new Brandermill History Book, spoke on “Brandermill: the History and the Book.”

Mary Miley TheobaldMary Miley Theobald is a historian and writer. She received her B.A. and M.A. from the College of William and Mary, worked for Colonial Williamsburg and taught American history and museum studies at Virginia Commonwealth University for many years. She has written 14 nonfiction books and more than 200 articles for a variety of magazines and newspapers, plus five historical novels. In 2012, Mary won a national competition for Best First Crime Novel with the first of her Roaring Twenties murder mysteries, The Impersonator. The fourth in that series came out in August, and a Hollywood producer has optioned the story for a television series. For fun, she is helping start up a winery near Charlottesville, where everything she does would have been illegal during the 1920s.
