BRMC 2014 Cavalcade of Music

The BRMC 2014 Cavalcade of Music is set for Sunday, May 4, returning to the Clover Hill High School auditorium. The ever popular BRMC Annual Spring Picnic Thursday, May 15 (with rain date May 22).

May Meeting

The Brandermill Region Men’s Club is pleased to welcome Dr. William L. Harp as the special guest speaker for our May 1 meeting.

Dr. Harp will discuss prescription drug abuse and introduce us to the technological innovation of Telemedicine, which provides clinical health care at a distance. He will also describe the all important responsibilities of the Virginia Board of Medicine, which he currently heads as Executive Director.

Dr. Harp is a native Georgian and a graduate of both the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed a residency in psychiatry at the Medical College of Virginia, and returned to Virginia following a four year tour in the U. S. Air Force. He practiced psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry for two decades in the Richmond area before assuming his present appointment at the Board of Medicine. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Clinical Full Professor in the VCU School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry.

We are delighted to welcome as our special guest speaker Wayne Adkins, a member of the Chickahominy Tribe of Native Americans. He has been a member of the Tribal Council since 1996, and was elected to First Assistant Chief in June 2011, following s two years service as Second Assistant Chief.Wayne has been the Chickahominy Tribe’s representative to the Virginia Indian Tribal Alliance for Life (VITAL) since its 2001 inception. This important organization addresses issues of concern to its member Tribes, with particular emphasis on gaining federal recognition through the United States Congress. As additional volunteer service, Wayne is a member of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Museum and Programs Advisory Council and the Board of Trustees for the Henricus Historical Park.
