Subject: Ride to Blowing Rock

I have attached some recent pictures of a trip to Blowing Rock NC Dave and I took this Thursday and Friday.

We left early Thursday and rode to Blowing Rock via RT 360 - 58 - 8- 89- I77- and 421 ( about 310 miles). Friday we traveled the Blue ridge parkway back to Roanoke ( 188 miles ), then Rt 460 & 360 home ( 325 miles total ).

The last shots are a market at Meadows of Dan, VA ( MP 178 on the parkway ) and Mabry Mill ( MP 176 ). One of the highlights was a biscuit with black cherry jam Friday morning at a spot along the parkway ( the jam was actually from Michigan ).

We decided to run the parkway north and stay over two nights, however, when we exited at Roanoke we were only 140 miles from home and decided to come on in.

It was a bucket list ride, but I am not going to record it that way because it would mean I would not be doing it again. In fact I can't wait to ride the parkway again.

Wish you all could have been there.

Doug

The Date -- Tuesday, June 22
The Place -- Six Burner Restaurant & Bar

a neighborhood favorite at 1627 West Main St., in Richmond's Fan District.

Chef Philip Denny "has upheld Six Burner's highly praised culinary reputation while giving this cozy Main Street eatery's menu a conservative taste of his style." In six years, Six Burner has become "a consistently enchanting culinary gem."
Dana Craig, Richmond Times Dispatch. January 7, 2010.

"talented chef Philip Denny ... presents his fare so beautifully that it is essential to take a moment, admire, breath in the enticing aroma and then dive in"
Hollister Lindley, Richmond Magazine, January 2010 - One of the 25 Best Restaurants.

The Brandermill Region Men's Club has arranged for a special Prix Fixe Three Course Dinner at $35 per person. Eight members of your hard working scout team were unanimous, and gave Six Burner eight "thumbs up."
